Forest Bathing / Shinrin-Yoku
Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku) is a traditional Japanese awareness meditation, proven to be a profound antidote to anxiety, depression, fear and tension. You will be taken upon a simple forest walk, whereupon your guide, Helena, will facilitate and enable a sensual immersive experience, whereby the forest languages of renewal, growth, change and impermanence will become your experiential second nature. You will develop a sense of inner peace and stillness that will be supported and encouraged by nature's living, ever-changing process. Absolutely no experience necessary. The requirements are a willingness to let go of your troubles, fears, worries and anxieties. Other things to note Wear warmer clothes than usual as we will spend time being still in the woods and in the shade of the forest canopy. You may also wish to bring something to sit on during sit spot practice. Great for groups and team building too. (I also work with Forest Garden, Shovelstrode that is located 4 miles from the location of this Forest Bathing experience. To book a stay in one of their beautiful cabins or yurts please go to: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/706388744474714084?check_in=2023-04-07&check_out=2023-04-09&guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=2f823084-8f29-4b79-bb35-ba161012d929)
Mindful Marbling Workshop
As an artist & meditator I designed this experience to be a creative antidote to stress & a take home tool to help us embrace uncertainty. I guide my guests towards the beauty of surrendering to life's present moment & into the psychological wellbeing of the creative flow state via the ancient mediative art of Japanese ink marbling. Not only do my guests leave the workshop relaxed & with paper and card prints of their creative work to take with them, but with a new creative skill set they can then replicate at home. We start with a relaxing cup of herbal tea in my lounge & a brief history of marbling. After which I guide my guests through an easy to follow guided meditation to relax my guests, enhance our feeling of wellbeing & prepare us to enter the flow state of creativity fully relaxed & free from the everyday stress of the world outside. Following on is a practical demonstration of the techniques involved in Japanese marbling. Guests are then invited to get creative themselves in the relaxed supportive environment of my home to create individual works of marbling art with all materials supplied. Message me your requirements I may be able to accommodate diff start time group bookings. Suitable for children from age 12 (unless you book a private family group booking, again message me your requirements).

Introduction to creating pottery on a wheel
I have a pottery studio in our garden Pottery sessions are usually for 2 people but can do it just for one. I can help you throw pots on the wheel.  It’s £60 for 2 including clay. It’s an hr and a half or thereabouts. £35 for one. We usually make 3 or so bowls each in that time.  I can glaze, fire and send them to you at a small cost - £5 an item plus about £7 for the total packaging and postage. Or collection no p&p charge. Dishwasher safe so you can use them.  Old clothes, wipeable shoes (not suede boots!) and short nails are best. The clay washes off skin and fabric. I have aprons for you.
Glass workshop, fuse your own Coaster.
On arrival you will be welcomed to my home and given a brief health and safety talk. Once your safety Goggles are on you will immediately practise cutting glass to get the feel for cutting. When you are confident with this we will consider your design, keeping it simple is the key to a successful coaster. Once the design is drawn out to size it can be used as a template and drawn on to the glass, There is plenty of colourful bullseye glass to be used. If necessary you will be shown how to grind the glass to get the perfect shape you require. Tea, coffee and cake will be served during a break. Following this you will be able to complete your design and place in the kiln for firing. Firing will take place that day and takes approximately 12 hours. Your work can either be collected by arrangement or posted to you (uk postage free international postage by arrangement) If you would rather make jewellery instead of a coaster please let me know and I can accommodate this. I aim this experience to be small and friendly and is suitable for one person or up to a group of four. Other things to note Please wear closed in shoes, no flip flops or sandals.
