Kia ora! Step into the buzzing world of honey bees with Waiheke Honey Company, our family-run passion project on Waiheke Island. We are now taking bookings for next spring/summer but the bees will take a break over winter
What to Expect:
Bee Basics: A quick yarn about staying safe around bees, hive anatomy, the honey bee life cycle, and our beekeeping gear.
Hive Dive: Suit up in a full bee suit (gloves included) and peek inside working hives. Spot the Queen, workers, and drones, see bee eggs, larvae, and maybe see a baby bee hatch. Taste fresh honey straight from the hive!
Bee Dance: If the sun’s out and the bees are buzzing, you might catch their famous waggle dance.
Honey Tasting: Wrap up with light refreshments—think raw honey drizzled on hot crumpets or toast, plus a chance to ask all your bee questions.
Good to Know:
Keen to handle the bees? Go for it! Prefer to just watch? That’s sweet as too.
Wet weather? We can go undercover if it’s mild. Stormy or windy? We’ll cancel to keep the bees (and us) cosy and dry.
Minimum of 2 participants required. If no one else books, we’ll contact you to reschedule, refund, or continue at the 2-person rate.
Join us for a cracking day with the bees!
