　樽口村には１０軒だけ家があります。山形県小国町の飯豊山のふもとです。この村はには川が流れていますが、村の家々は、川より上の山の斜面にあるため、いつも水不足でした。井戸を掘っても、茶色い水しか出てきません。そこで、１００年ほど前、村に生えていた巨大な杉の木を切って、京都のお寺に売りました。そのお金で、村人たちは裏の山に隧道を掘ろうとしたのです。ところが、工事に来た男たちは、最初の一日だけ工事をしたふりをして逃げて行ったのです。村人たちは、自分たちで隧道を掘って山の裏に流れる小川を引くことに成功しました。それから１００年、この水は村の貴重な用水として使われています。樽口村は、春は山桜、雪解け水で増水した川でのイワナ釣り。そして、山菜。ワラビ・ゼンマイ・ウドなど一般的なものだけでなく、市場に出回らない貴重な山菜が楽しめます。夏は、昼こそ暑いものの朝夕は涼しく、快適に過ごせます。ただ、注意が必要なのは、メジロとよばれる小さなアブ。刺されないように気を付けてください。秋は、燃えるような紅葉。そして、たくさんの種類のきのこ。冬は３メートルを越える雪。薪ストーブあります。

越後七浦の海と山の麓にある築100年の古民家を改装した一棟貸しの宿です。古民家と言うにはあまりにも簡素な家ですが古い様で新しい。この気持ち良さを旅の思い出のひとつとしていただけたらと思います。ここは新潟市西蒲区（旧巻町）の間瀬海岸北陸道・巻ICから車で25分・三条燕ICから35分。眼下に広がる越後七浦の水平線。誰もいない海辺の朝の散歩。まるでジブリの世界のようなハイキングコース。近くには人里離れた山の中のカフェや海に沈む夕日を見ながらのイタリアンレストランもあります。岩室温泉の名店のお弁当を購入されまったりと過ごすことも。採れたての野菜を調理して楽しめる様にアグリツーリズムも計画中。潮の香と波の音に癒されのんびりしたり、海水浴はもちろん弥彦山登山、サーフィンやジェットスキー。海岸線のドライブやツーリングなど楽しみ方は様々です。我が家の「はなれ」としてゆっくりお過ごしください。
